New Mural Brings Bold and Exciting Energy to the Library

HUNTINGTON, MA, October 11, 2024

Huntington-based artist Nickel Stillnight partnered with Library staff and trustees to create a large-scale mural for the Huntington Public Library. The piece which took over 16 hours to complete is titled "Knowledge is Power". Abstract and concrete shapes, vibrant colors and bold outlines come together to create an energetic rendition of the human mind.

Nickel’s mural speaks to everything that the library strives to be-a vibrant gathering place that offers quality reading, viewing, and listening for its patrons as well as support for independent learning opportunities and formal education. Here people can learn, work, and relax together. We are especially excited for the opportunity to feature artwork designed by residents of the communities we serve.

About the Artist

Hello, my name is Nickel. My passion for art originates from the booming creativity in my mind. Throughout my life I found many forms of expressing my imagination such as drawing, painting, writing, music, cooking, and philosophy (my favorite). The inspiration fueling my goal comes from my own personal growth these past three years. My journey as a professional artist has just begun, but I look forward to every step and person I meet along the way.

Using my art, I want to support people through challenges to discover and love their true essence. My art will expose the parts of society that take advantage of our needs/passions and social norms that hinder our personalities. I hope people understand true happiness in defying these “rules” in place from social pressure.
